Few days ago, a phone
call from a potential client brought to my attention the
topic of this article. In this article I just want to
briefly touch upon the issue of expired or lost green cards.
A potential client
called my office and explained to my assistant that he was
out of status for years and wanted to see what his options
were. He asked her to schedule his first appointment with me
which we generally do not charge for.
When the client came
in, it did not take long to determine that he was indeed a
legal permanent resident who was under the impression that
he is out of status just because his legal permanent
resident card (green card) expired a few years ago. He was a
permanent resident who got his residency years ago through
his parents. He was in possession of a permanent green card
which had expired about three years ago. The client was
unaware that he could have filed for the renewal of the
same.
As the “Tablet Wars”
heat up and various devices hit the market all with the
promise of being the best, I checked out a few to give you a
look into the world of Tablets.
This year at the
Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Tablet
computers generated a majority of the excitement. In Fact
with nearly 20,000 new products being show cased, the
product which took best in show among all the categories was
a Tablet - the Motorola Xoom. Over 80 different Tablets from
different companies were displayed at CES 2011. Vizio,
Motorola, Samsung, Asus, RIM and LG were just a few
manufactures showing off their lineup but missing from the
bunch was Apple and its “I” devices as the company usually
doesn’t take part in such events, kind of like Bollywood
superstar Aamir Khan, they do their own thing & are good at
that I must say.
